2012 Leaf History of Baseball: Cut Signature Edition

This week I figured was going to be a slow week for me getting cards, but my wife surprised me with a gift from her shopping trip to Wal-Mart tonight.  Tonight I got to open my first box of 2012 Leaf History of Baseball Cut Signature Edition.  On top of that my wife told me that the lady at Wal-Mart rang it up as $19.99 because she didn't know why it was coming up $29.99 because she thought all blaster boxes where $19.99.

Now lets see what we got in the box!  Curt Blefary

Lets look at who Curt Blefary is.  He was the 1965 AL Rookie of the Year and played most of his best years in his career were for the Baltimore Orioles.  Here is his stat line:

I love the look of the card, even though I don't like slabbed cards, but I will make an exception for this set of cards...I'll let you slide just this once Leaf!  All in all, I didn't get a household name but at least it wasn't a player who was a life long minor league player.   If there is an Orioles collector out there that has another 2012 Leaf History of Baseball Cut Signature to trade, let me know!

Oddball Baseball Cards: 1989 Cadaco All-Star Disks

I remember in 1989 for Christmas I got a Cadaco All-Star Baseball Board Game.  Now we are over two decades later and all I have left to show for that game are the game disks.  The reason I kept these so long is because the disks could also be considered collectible like baseball cards.  Though not widely ever seen around the trading world I haven't really seen the disks go for very much.  I usually see the full boxed game on Ebay for around $30 with shipping.

The cards are MLBPA authorized but not MLB so no logos are used.  During the 1980s there was an explosion of these types of odd-ball sets created, and many of these type of sets values have not gone much more than their original retail values.  If anyone out there is in need of any of these oddball cards from 1989 Cadaco All-Star baseball, send me an email with the name of the player you need!

Another Great Trade with Dustin at Veal and Vealtones!

Last week I contact Dustin at Cool Veal and Vealtones and asked if he would be interested in a Detroit Tigers Eddie Matthews Topps Patch Card.  Of course him being a huge Tigers fan he said sure!  Here is the break down of the deal:

Another Dollar Store Purchase

This week I have frequented the dollar store because of getting cheap Halloween decorations for the yard.  So again today I picked up another $3 worth of cards.  I got another 30 card baseball vintage pack, 2012 Triple Play, and 2011 Panini Americana.  Today didn't disappoint.

Above are the best cards of the pack:  1993 Topps Tim Raines, Randy Johnson, 1986 Leaf Pedro Guerrero, 1985 Topps Dave Stewart, Mike Boddocker All Star, 1984 Topps Rickey Henderson, Ron Cey, and a 1993 Classic Minor League Derrek Lee.

 Final verdict, I got 33 cards in a 30 card pack.  Got a good mix of early junk wax era cards to include 1984 Hall of Fame player, and a 1993 Minor League Rookie card of a big time star of the mid 2000s, Derrek Lee.

I have grown fond of the Americana cards lately, but if you buy the packs at a dollar store you only are going to expect 5 base cards, unlike buying at retail or hobby levels.  For my big hits, I got a Chris North "Big from Sex in the City" and the famous Robert Vaughn, most notably from the best movie ever made BASEketball!  (Okay, it is my favorite movie!).

I am working with little money right now, but I do hope to post some of my recent trades once some of them start rolling in!
