Craigslist Idiot St. Louis

Every now and then I like to see the idiots who think those junk wax cards are worth money.  I happen to like junk wax cards, but would I pay $30 for a 1989 Topps Craig Biggio rookie card?  HELL NO!  For that price I can buy 5 1989 Topps Wax Boxes, I could end up with 10 Biggio rookies, and also completed a few sets in the process.  Unlike other blogs who reply to these people, I just plan to expose it.  In the past two years I have seen this man post junk after junk almost daily.  I bet he buys up these junk wax collections for $10 and breaks them up trying to make them look all rare to someone who doesn't know anything about cards.  These guys are almost worst than scammers, because they are trying to scam you out of money by telling you that this Biggio card is worth $30 and will someday be worth hundreds when he hits the hall of fame.

Notice every single one of those cards you could maybe buy in a dime box!  Look at those 1989 Topps prices on the Johnson and the second year Alomar!

  1. If the person's ad is particularly egregious, I will send them a link to the card on checkoutmycards.com, with the question, "Is this the same card you are selling?"

That's a nice passive-aggressive way to tell them they are an idiot. :-)

  2. I always get a hell of a laugh over these guys on Craigslist. In the Chicago area, there is one add that has to have been posted over and over for the past 6 months, if not more. He asks for an offer, and I am sure he is rejecting common sense prices, thinking he has a few hundred dollars in his hands.
